At Stella Manor, our approach is rooted in regenerative agriculture, promoting cattle health and environmental sustainability. Recently, we’ve established an eight-acre medicinal pasture test plot on Muffley Hollow Road in Bell Township, Pennsylvania. This innovative pasture system is designed to nourish our Angus cattle and rebuild soil health naturally, without synthetic fertilizers or irrigation.
Our medicinal pasture includes plants such as chicory, clovers, sainfoin, plantain, and herbs like yarrow and chamomile. These provide essential nutrients and bioactive compounds historically recognized for their health benefits and resilience to environmental stress.
The seed mix was customized specifically for Stella Manor using research from institutions such as Penn State, Cornell, and Utah State. This blend supports cattle health, attracts pollinators, and improves soil structure and water retention, which helps protect Beaver Run Creek and the Kiskiminetas River.

Our Project Goals
- Eliminate synthetic fertilizer: Clovers fix nitrogen naturally.
- Reduce parasite pressure: Sainfoin and birdsfoot trefoil supply condensed tannins that may help.
- Ensure drought/flood resilience: Tap-rooted plants like chicory and plantain remain productive through extremes.
- Protect water quality: Ground cover helps stabilize soil and prevent runoff into waterways.
